Dr. O’Neal is a Clinical Psychologist specializing in adult and geriatric neuropsychology and severe mental illness. From Stillwater Oklahoma, Dr. O’Neal received his undergraduate in Psychology from Oklahoma State University, and a master’s in Counseling Psychology from the University of Kansas. While at KU Dr. O’Neal worked as a counselor in the outpatient department at the Menninger Clinic in Topeka KS where developing interests in neuropsychology lead to his pursuit of a doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the California School of Professional Psychology. Following internship at Dorothea Dix Hospital in Raleigh NC, he resumed studies of cognitive rehabilitation and geriatric neuropsychological assessments during a fellowship at the Institute for Living in Hartford CT.
Dr. O’Neal came to Sarasota in 2006 and has been in private practice conducting neuropsychological assessments working extensively with the Sarasota Memorial Hospital Memory Disorders Clinic, Lee Memorial Hospital Memory Disorders Clinic in Ft. Meyer, and has specialized experience in capacity and guardianship evaluations. He has supported the field of psychology among peers serving as membership chair and president of the Lower West Coast chapter of the Florida Psychological Association. In 2012 Dr. O’Neal started working with Central Neurology and in recent years has assisted Suncoast Neuroscience Associates as a rater for clinical trials. Dr. O’Neal enjoys spending time with the revolving hoard of rescued Labrador Retrievers he and his partner have adopted.
